Hi, I’m Paige.
I’ve helped communities make good decisions about trains since 2009. I created Train Explainer to simplify information about high-speed rail and intercity travel in North America and beyond.
Having been at the forefront of leading initiatives for passenger rail projects across the United States and Canada, I noticed a need to make learning about trains more accessible and attainable for everyday people. I have also traveled on more than 100 intercity, long-distance train journeys across Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. These trips enriched my understanding of passenger experience, station planning, and network planning. It also provided me with first-hand insights into 9 of the 20 high-speed rail systems currently operational worldwide. At Train Explainer, you’ll find a blend of learnings from international travel and news coverage of the latest in passenger rail, to help keep you in-the-know and empower you to take your own adventures with confidence and enthusiasm.
Along the way, I received my M.Sc. in Transportation Management with certification in High-Speed Rail Management from San José State University and have garnered over a decade of experience in transportation policy, research, strategic communications, and executive education. I specialize in researching megaregions and the integration of rail stations at airports, as well as the Cascadia high-speed rail project. My contributions have been published in several journals and featured with: Mineta Transportation Institute, International Union of Railways (UIC), Fundación Caminos de Hierro, Eno Center for Transportation, and Transportation Research Board.
